La galleria d’arte Spazio COMEL di Latina era affollatissima per il gran finale del Premio COMEL. Una sesta edizione ricca, entusiasmante, come sempre caratterizzata da provenienze diversissime degli artisti. Il premio si conferma per la sua internazionalità, come ha sottolineato il presidente di Giuria, il critico d’arte Giorgio Agnisola, con un’attenzione sempre maggiore da parte di chi opera nell’arte contemporanea: oltre 1500 artisti hanno inviato le loro opere in sei edizioni annuali, dei sei vincitori, due sono stati stranieri (da Belgio e Regno Unito). Inoltre, ogni anno, la giuria è composta da personalità di spicco del mondo dell’arte. Quest’anno in particolare: Alfredo La Malfa, Marco Nocca, Loredana Rea, tutti e tre a capo di Fondazioni d’arte di livello mondiale.
Il progetto visionario di Maria Gabriella Mazzola, titolare della galleria e imprenditrice dell’azienda locale CO.ME.L. (Commercio Metalli Latina) ideato sei anni fa e realizzato in tempi rapidi con la creazione dello Spazio COMEL e del Premio COMEL, ha ricordato il prof. Marco Nocca, si è pienamente realizzato, con coraggio e caparbietà, grazie anche alla complicità del fratello Adriano. Il Premio ha avuto in origine la volontà di ricordare l’imprenditrice Vanna Migliorin e ora ne continua la missione. Il cuore originario continua ad essere l’anima del premio stesso e dello Spazio, attraverso l’impegno in prima persona di Maria Gabriella. Per questo probabilmente si respira un’atmosfera famigliare e nascono facilmente collaborazioni e amicizie tra gli artisti che partecipano al premio. La genuinità degli organizzatori si lega alla ricerca dell’alta professionalità delle risorse in campo, e al lavoro encomiabile dei giurati (in pieno accordo nelle valutazioni tecniche ed artistiche) che, vale la pena ricordare, con le loro preferenze non hanno di certo la pretesa di esprimere i primati assoluti dell’arte ma scelgono in base ad un personale sentire e a parametri che valutano estetica ma soprattutto perizia nella lavorazione dell’alluminio, a cui il Premio è dedicato. Loredana Rea ha tenuto a ribadire l’importanza del legame tra arte e impresa, affermando che proprio i privati con la loro passione culturale possono tracciare una via illuminata.
La vincitrice della giuria è risultata l’artista Rosaria Iazzetta, di Mugnano di Napoli, con l’opera Senza Titolo. Docente d’arte presso l’Accademia di Napoli, ha arricchito la sua esperienza artistica tra Oriente e Occidente. Esperta lavoratrice di metalli e fortemente impegnata nel sociale con l’azione creativa. La vincitrice ha dedicato al Premio a tutti gli operatori del settore che ancora si meravigliano del lavoro “da officina” di alcune artiste, ricordando che l’arte, e in particolare la scultura, non ha un genere, ma solo tanta passione che smuove e crea.
Menzione speciale a Lele De Bonis, per l’opera Sigmund, dedicata all’illusione dell’equilibrio psichico, con un contributo originalissimo alla psicoanalisi. Scenografo esecutore per il teatro e il cinema e grandi scenografie da esterni, ha sviluppato un percorso artistico incentrato sul recupero e l’assemblaggio.
Altra menzione speciale allo scultore fiorentino Lorenzo Galligani, per la suggestiva opera Acqua. Anche lui con un background tra Asia e Europa, e visiting professor presso diverse università. È direttore della prestigiosa Accademia Galligani di Firenze.
Menzione speciali, infine, all'artista George King (UK), per l’opera Holding Pattern. È stato senior architect presso lo Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), contribuendo a imponenti progetti internazionali. Architetto di grande esperienza e numerosi riconoscimenti, è docente presso varie università.
Il premio del pubblico è stato conferito all’artista Emilio Alberti, per l’opera Tempesta. Ha approfondito il suo percorso nella scultura, nella pittura e nell’installazione. Ha una lunga esperienza espositiva di livello internazionale. Ama collaborare con altri artisti con spirito multidisciplinare. Il suo quadro ha conquistato letteralmente i votanti, incluso i giovani studiosi giunti numerosi presso lo Spazio COMEL, sia dall’università sia dal Liceo Artistico della città. Davvero un bel segnale e una novità molto positiva per via Neghelli, finalmente famosa non solo per i pub, ma anche per l’arte.
Ad intrattenere il pubblico nelle varie fasi della premiazione il sound brillante e molto apprezzato dei musicisti Claudio Merico (violino) e Riccardo Garcia Rubi (chitarra).

The art gallery Spazio COMEL of Latina was really crammed with people for the grand finale of the COMEL Award. It was a sixth, rich, exciting event, as usual characterized by the most diverse geographical backgrounds of the artists. The prize confirms its international features, as the jury president, art critic Giorgio Agnisola, emphasized. It is receiving a more and more increasing attention by those who work in the contemporary art scene: over 1500 artists have sent their works in six annual editions, and among the six winners, two of them were foreigners (from Belgium and the United Kingdom). Moreover, every year, the jury is made up of prominent personalities of the art world. This year in particular: Alfredo La Malfa, Marco Nocca, Loredana Rea, all the three are head in charge of worldly famous Art Foundations.
The visionary project of Maria Gabriella Mazzola, owner of the gallery and entrepreneur of the local company CO.ME.L. (Latina Metal Trading) created six years ago and quickly established with the Spazio COMEL Space COMEL Award, as Professor Marco Nocca reminded, has been fully achieved, with courage and stamina, thanks also to her brother Adriano's complicity. The Prize originally had the will to remember the businesswoman Vanna Migliorin (their mother) and now it continues her mission of Mecenatism. The original heartful feeling is still the soul of the prize and the gallery, thanks to the personal commitment of Maria Gabriella. That's why you can breathe in a family atmosphere here and it is easy to create partnerships and friendships among the artists participating in the prize. The authenticity of the organizers is linked to the search for the high professionalism of the human resources in the field and to the admirable job of the jurors (in full agreement in the technical and artistic evaluations) which, it is worth mentioning, with their preferences certainly have no claim to express the absolute primates of art. They just choose on the basis of a personal feeling and of parameters that evaluate the aesthetic aspects of the works and, above all, the expertise in aluminum processing, metal to which the Prize is dedicated. Loredana Rea has stressed the importance of the link between art and business, saying that the private initiative of people with a strong cultural passion can really trace an illuminated way.
The winner of the jury is the artist Rosaria Iazzetta (from Mugnano di Napoli, a little town in the Province of Naples) with her work Senza Titolo. She is a Professor at the Academy of Naples, and has enriched her artistic experience between East and West. She is an expert metal worker and strongly committed with social issues through the creative action of art. The winner has dedicated the Prize to all the workers in the field who are still amazed at the work made in production workshops of some women artists, recalling that art, and especially sculpture, does not have a genre, instead it only depends on the strong passion that shakes and creates.
Special mention to the artists George King (UK) for his work Holding Pattern. He was senior architect at Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), contributing to impressive international projects. He is an architect with great experience and numerous awards, and Professor of various universities.
Another special mention to the Florentine sculptor Lorenzo Galligani, for the suggestive work Acqua. He also has a background between Asia and Europe, and he is visiting professor at several universities. He is the director of the prestigious Galligani Academy in Florence.
Finally, a special mention to Lele De Bonis, for the work Sigmund, dedicated to the illusion of psychic equilibrium, though an original contribution to psychoanalysis. Stage designer for theater and cinema and large outdoor scenic designs, he has developed an artistic pathway focused on recovery and assembly.
The public prize was awarded to the artist Emilio Alberti for the work Tempesta. He has deepened his research in sculpture, painting and installation. He has a long international exhibition experience. He likes collaborating with other artists with a multidisciplinary spirit. His picture literally captured the voters, including the young scholars who came at the Spazio COMEL, both from the University and from the Artistic High School of Latina. It was a really positive signal and very good news for via Neghelli, finally famous not only for pubs but also for art.
To entertain the public during the various stages of the awards, there was the brilliant and highly appreciated sound of the musicians Claudio Merico (violin) and Riccardo Garcia Rubi (guitar).
